Free online habit tracker — without streak guilt.
Track daily habits and amounts right here in your browser. Free, no account, your data never leaves this device — and when you miss a day, nothing resets to zero. You keep your best run, and coming back counts.
Today ·
Add a habit — a simple check, or an amount like 8 glasses of water.
Everything is saved in your browser (localStorage) — private by design, nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data erases it, so use Export for a backup, or move to the app for real backups, reminders, timers and weekly goals.
How to use this habit tracker
Tap + Add habit, name it, pick an emoji and a color, and choose the type: a one-tap habit (meditate, floss) or an amount habit with a daily goal (8 glasses of water, 10 pages). Each day, tap the circle to mark it done — amount habits count up one tap at a time. The last five weeks fill in under each habit, and your stats update as you go.
Come back tomorrow and the tracker remembers everything — your data lives in your browser, not on our servers. That's also why there's no signup: there's no account to create because there's nothing to send.
A habit tracker that doesn't punish missed days
Most free habit trackers are built around one fragile number: the unbroken streak. Miss a day and it resets to zero — as if the month before it didn't happen. Research on habit formation says the opposite: in the UCL study that measured real habit building, missing a single day didn't materially affect the process. What kills habits is the demoralizing zero, not the missed Tuesday.
So this tracker keeps score differently, the same way our app does:
- Best run is a record, not a live wire. It can be beaten, never taken away.
- Missed days are just quiet. No red, no zero, no guilt copy.
- Comebacks are counted. Complete a habit the day after a quiet day and you'll see a small comeback mark — because returning is the hardest part, and it deserves to be a stat.
- 30-day consistency is the number that tells the truth: 24 of the last 30 days beats any streak bragging.
Want a printable habit tracker instead?
Prefer a designed sheet? Grab the free printable habit tracker PDFs — monthly, weekly and a 66-day builder, in A4 and US Letter. Or tap Print blank sheet above — it prints a clean one-month grid with your habit names down the side and 31 day-columns, ready for a fridge door or a journal. (Add your habits first so they appear on the sheet.) Paper has no reminders and no stats, but it also has no notifications — some people find that's exactly the point.
When to graduate to the app
This page is a real tracker, and if it's all you need, use it forever — it will keep working. The Habit Radar app adds the things a browser page can't do well: reminders, home-screen widgets, timer habits, flexible weekly goals ("3 times this week"), a full year-in-review, backup and restore, and the complete comeback system with milestones. Same philosophy, more depth — and your first habits take under a minute to set up.
Frequently asked questions
Is this habit tracker really free?
Yes — completely. It runs in your browser with no account, no trial and no paywall. It funds itself by being a good introduction to the Habit Radar app, which is also free to start.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. The tracker works immediately in any modern browser, on phone or desktop. Your habits are saved locally on this device.
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
In your browser's local storage, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, tracked or synced — we literally cannot see your habits. The trade-off: clearing your browser data erases it, so use Export for backups (or the app, which has real backup and restore).
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing resets. The day stays quiet, your best run is kept as a record, and if you complete the habit the next day the tracker marks a comeback. This mirrors the research: one missed day doesn't materially affect habit formation — quitting over the zero does.
Can I track amounts like glasses of water or pages?
Yes. Choose the Amount type when adding a habit and set a daily goal — each tap counts up (3/8, 4/8…) and the day completes when you reach the goal. Partial progress is always visible.
Can I print a blank habit tracker?
Yes — the Print blank sheet button generates a clean monthly grid with your habit names and 31 day-columns, ready to print or save as PDF.
How is this different from the Habit Radar app?
Same philosophy, less machinery. The app adds reminders, home-screen widgets, timer habits, flexible weekly goals, yearly reviews, backup/restore, and the full comeback and milestone system — plus your data survives browser cleanups.
How many habits should I track?
Start with two or three. Every forming habit costs attention; add the next one when the current ones stop taking willpower — usually a few weeks. Our 50 habit ideas guide includes realistic frequencies for each.
What's a good 30-day consistency score?
70%+ is a solid habit — that's 21 of 30 days. 90% is excellent. The point of the score is that it absorbs normal human misses instead of erasing your record over one bad Tuesday.
